Artzilla 2025

In 2021, local artist Brian Stewart invited me to join the Augusta art collective Artzilla. It was the pinnacle moment of my art career then, and I was thrilled to join such a storied cast of artists as we painted live during the ArtsCity Festival that September.

Years passed and I’ve been swamped since with other projects, so many in fact that I haven’t had a chance to join the Artzillans for several years. Luckily, this year I threw my name in the ring and was able to join the collective for this year’s Arts in the Heart of Augusta Festival.

As has been normal, I had some conflicts come up, but I was able to attend Friday night and painted next to one of the most famous local artists, Leonard Porkchop Zimmerman.

Due to class schedule conflicts and a Sunday appointment out of town, I wasn’t able to finish out the festival. However, it was so very good to see all my favorite art friends on Friday and I got started on the next in my small works portrait series!

So thankful for every single opportunity that presents itself on this art journey. I never take any of this for granted and am still rather speechless at how things continue to unfold. Truly humbled!

My modest set up at Artzilla.
I painted next to Porkchop!
Still have a long way to go, but here is day two on Sun Ra.
